This doesn't mean the end of the Guardians team — someone else can always do it Guardians Vol. 4 - but he puts this possibility out into the universe. Dave Bautista has said it before Guardians Vol. 3 will be his last as Drax. So even if Guardians appeared elsewhere, it could be drastically different.
