During the event, participants will enjoy "yours really" as Microsoft pilot Chris Levesque takes you through sets of flight simulation experiences broadcast live on the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator technology. The flight simulation is actual GPS satellite imagery.

Travel Charities Orbis Sight Journey

Participants who participate in the Orbis Flight for Sight event will also take a virtual tour of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital. This is an amazing plane that flies around the world to help those in need. FedEx has donated a converted cargo plane to a state-of-the-art Eye Education and Training Hospital.

Nearly a billion people around the world live with vision loss or blindness that could be prevented or treated if they had access to the care we easily take for granted. Your participation will help end avoidable blindness for those who live in love and middle-income countries where there is no eye care.

The next Flight for Sight event will take place on December 1, 2022. Teams of 12 people must raise a minimum of $2,000. That's only $166.66 per person. So get your co-workers and family together Or friends together for a fun way to raise money for a charity! Having trouble getting 12 people? Not a problem. Solo travelers can join an existing team!

Going alone? Take a solo trip and join an existing team

The December 1, 2022 flight is now open for single travelers! There is no need to recruit 11 other friends, family or colleagues. Instead, you'll only need to pay the $25 registration fee, raise your individual fundraising minimum from $250, and you'll be placed in a team of up to 12 fellow solo adventure seekers. How easy is that? And you'll make new friends who love to travel just in time for the holiday season.

Throughout the day, there are three different hour-long events where teams compete against each other for points. The winners will generally be announced at the end of the final event.

Orbis Flying Eye Hospital was made possible thanks to event sponsor FedEx who donated this one-of-a-kind aircraft and Turned it into a state-of-the-art education and training eye hospital.

The Flying Eye Hospital travels to six destinations every year equipped with a full medical team from more than 30 countries. Doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists and biomedical engineers volunteer their time to share their expertise with local medical professionals.

The goal of the Flying Eye Hospital is threefold. To help treat eye problems that could be easily treated if only people had access to medical professionals, raise awareness of eye health with local governments, and train local medical professionals.

1 billion people suffer from preventable eye diseases

Unfortunately, 90% of the 1 billion people living with preventable eye diseases reside in low- and middle-income countries. It is there that the flying eye hospital becomes very important. Volunteer staff not only treat eye diseases, but also create opportunities, training simulations, and sharing experiences with local medical professionals.

Orbis Flying Eye Hospital also raises awareness about eye health in low- and middle-income countries and opens a dialogue with local governments and ministries of health to help change global eye health policies and priorities.
