This past weekend gave us a collaboration that completed the classic song circuit. Brent Smithwhich achieved massive success with shining coverage Lynyrd Skynyrd"Simple Man" had the opportunity to collaborate with the song's authors on stage in Nashville.
The collaboration took place Sunday (November 13) during Lynyrd Skynyrd's performance at the Ryman Auditorium, and singer Johnny Van Van had some good words to say introducing Smith. "This next guest, these guys, his band, they're from Jacksonville, Florida, by the way — which is where Lynyrd Skynyrd comes from. And they did this song great. "Simple Man," of course, has a long history with Shinedown since its inclusion on the group's debut album, Leave A Whisper. Cover hit no. 5 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart and has been certified as a platinum single by the band.
